Aberdeen Bowling Club is the city’s oldest outdoor bowling club which was formed in 1883. The club is located at 50 Carlton Place, Aberdeen and during the season the members take part in internal and external competitions and friendly matches with other local clubs most weekends. Members also enjoy other social occasions such as BBQs, coffee mornings and Scottish nights. A friendly welcome awaits you and new members are always welcome. We are a friendly, mixed, lawn bowling club with a large clubhouse, good changing facilities, a well-stocked licensed bar, extensive on-site catering facilities and a spacious car park. New members are welcome, regardless of ability. Experienced bowlers have the opportunity to play in leagues and friendly matches. For novice bowlers, coaching and equipment will be provided on request.

The basics:
Outdoor bowls is played on squares of closely cut grass known as “the green” which is then divided into a series of separate strips known as rinks.
The green is surrounded by a small ditch to catch bowls that leave the green, behind which is a bank on where markers are placed to indicate the boundaries of each rink and the centre line.
